In all done there is a cause (why (it was done)), an effect (what (it was done)) and an action (how (it was done)). But when it comes to a project, something that yet to be done, the action does not yet exist and it is necessary something to provoke it.

The word “motivation” comes from the Latin word “motivus” , which means “cause of motion” . According to the Royal Spanish Academy, the word “motive” means “cause or reason that moves for something” . Therefore, we need a motive in order to motivate.

When you know why do you must do something (cause), you can propose what to do about that (goal or effect). There already you get the reason to.

But not all motives are equally motivationals. If you want a really powerfull motivation, the motive must be, above all, something that affects you and involve you as directly as possible in order to feel it, assimilate it and accept it. The motive must be clear, simple, concise, important and tangible. If you want to motivate people, the cause must be important for everyone and the goal must be a possible challenge in order to be convincing.

“Give me a motive and a motivation and I will change the world”.- Rafael Hernampérez

What do you need to motivate you? How should be the motive that motivates you?
