The context of the tasks

It’s inevitable. We live in a scenario where anything can arise at any time and anywhere. You can be at work and arises an errand for home. You can be at home and arises an idea or a task for work. What to do?

The context is a classifying method of tasks, with which you can define the place o the tool you need to run the task. When you compile a task, if it is clear and evident, you also compile its context. If not, at the time of the review and processing, you will define its context.

The context is very useful, because it facilitates the choice of the next task to execute from our tasks list. The first filter to be applied should be, precisely, the context in which we are now, discarding the rest.

The most common contexts are the following:

  • Work / Office
  • Home
  • Personal
  • Clients
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Errands

There are technological tools that allow you to define and manage the context. If you don’t have one of these tools, I recommend you write the task preceded by its context, and write the context preceded by a special sign, for example, the “@” symbol.
